Foam Black Ant

tied by John Erskine

jerskineas.jpg (29437 bytes)

Black Foam Ant

Hook: size 14-18
Thread: Black
Body: Black Closed Cell Foam
Legs: Black Hackle Feather

Start the thread, and attach the foam to the hook. Fold back the head and the tail and tie it back in to the middle. Palmer the hackle around the middle of the foam and snip off anything that extends below the hook. This will allow the ant to sit low on the surface of the water. Apply a bit of head cement to the thread and you're all done. Simple but super effective!
